February Fiction Update

Jozi Flash 2017 Now Available!

After months of hard work, Jozi Flash 2017 is now available to download for free! This anthology contains 80 flash fiction stories written by authors living in and around Johannesburg.

It’s not quite the Gummi Bears, but it certainly bounces around a lot.

Jozi Flash 2017 combines the talents of ten brilliant authors with one gifted artist, to bring you a collection of 80 flash fiction stories across eight different genres.

From a children’s story about the folly of summoning dragons, to the horrors held in deliciously treacherous ice cream, the authors take you on journeys that weave fantasy and folklore together alongside practical detectives and everyday tragedy.

With stunning artwork prompts by Nico Venter, these South African authors have created an anthology that will leave you breathless.

And more good news – we’ve already started planning Jozi Flash 2018! I can’t wait!

WIPs – The Ruon Chronicles and Porselein

The Ruon Chronicles – Box of Secrets

I’m currently busy with part 8 of Box of Secrets (whoohoo). Part 1 to 7 is now available to read on my Patreon page for free, and I am busy loading it onto Wattpad as well. On Wattpad it is available under the title The Knowledge Stones. I know. But the new title just suits it so much better!

Porselein (Afrikaans fiction)

Porselein is coming along very well. It is still in its planning stage, but the character sheets of the main characters have been completed and part of the book’s macro outline has also been completed. I have also changed the names of the main characters, which will take some time for me to get used to!

Writing Course and Learning

I’ve finished the third module of the writing course I’m currently taking (the “Algemene Skryfkursus” by Skryfgeheime) and have had very positive feedback regarding Porselein’s premise and the main characters. One thing that I have changed, as I said above, are the names of the characters. This is in order for them to fit better in the secondary world I’ve created for the story.

It is one way of “killing your darlings”, I guess, as I really liked the names I had chosen while the story was still in its infancy (and was supposed to be urban fantasy). Now, however, the story is going to take place in a secondary world.
