Writing Update: Camp NaNoWriMo, Patreon, and Other Endeavours

I am very excited to say that my writing has really been flowing over the past few weeks and I feel as if I’m back on track after some time when I had a few flares and couldn’t write at the pace I desperately wanted to. I am also dusting off some projects I’ve had to put by the wayside while I wait to get better. Here’s a quick update of the writerly things I’m busy with.

Camp NaNoWriMo prep

Prepping for Camp NaNoWriMo has been going extremely well this month and I have finished the macro, and part of the micro outline for Box of Secrets (I’m leaning more and more towards another title for this piece…). This coming week I’ll be finishing the micro outline and finishing up the loose ends between Secrets and Charms of Life and Death. Then, during April, I want to finish the first draft of Secrets and start on the Chapter 3 rewrite of Charms. Thanks to a whole bunch of public holidays and some annual leave, I should be able to accomplish this, yay!

The Ruon Chronicles — Patreon fiction

Box of Secrets, as you may already know, is actually the Patreon fiction that became a novel. I am toying with the idea of showing how each draft changes the story (my first drafts usually do not contain that much description) and then having the actual novel ready by the end of the year. This will actually keep with my initial idea with Patreon — to show the behind the scenes workings of my fiction as well as giving patrons exclusive fiction as well. Let’s just say I have some exclusive fiction lined up as well!

Podcast interview and other WIPs

My interview with The Folklore Podcast was released last week. In this podcast I discuss folklore in fantasy fiction. I may also fangirl just a bit over my favourite authors. The podcast is free to listen to as well! Just go to The Folklore Podcast website or iTunes to download it (and their other episodes). Make your morning/afternoon commute fun and educational!

Future posts to look out for

During the next two weeks I’ll be posting some blog entries on character role playing, the importance (and awesomeness) of writer friends, my writing process, and writing projects I’m planning.
