The Patreon-only fiction for July has been posted! Here’s a sneak peek…
Maria stared at Orion, Gemini, and Taurus shining on the ceiling of her room with a green-yellow light. Beside her the night-light glowed with the constellations, as seen from earth, pricked in the cover so that the pinpricks of light echoed the vastness of space and its burning stars on the canvas of the ceiling. The night-light had been her grandmother’s, the only thing she had of her and one of the few things their family still had which had come from earth and not one of the colonies. The other items from earth were a worn teddy bear her mother had received as a baby and a scary figurine of a clown. Apparently her other grandmother – not the one who loved the stars – had loved clowns and her whole house had been filled and decorated with the smiling and crying painted creatures. Maria shivered at the thought. That must be what hell is like if it exists, she mused. Endless corridors and rooms filled with clowns.
