Writing Update: June 2016 (Part 1)

Can you believe it is already the middle of June! So I figured it’s about time I let you know where I am at the moment with my different projects.

Work(s) In Progress – Fiction

This week I’m finishing up my WIP Dans op die maan (Dance on the Moon), for which the closing date of the competition I’ve written it for is 30 June. It needs to be posted via snail mail, so it’s not one of those you can send off at midnight… It is mostly formatting that I need to do, though, so it shouldn’t take more than a day. I’ve allocated the whole of Friday for it, though, as I have that day off.

My other big project to finish this weekend is a preview (of about 5 000 words) of the Ruon Chronicles. This part of the story takes place before book 1 (WIP title The Charms of Life and Death). So I think it will give a good idea of the world I’ve created for the series. This won’t be a Patreon-only piece of fiction, though, and will be posted on the blog.

There are a few other stories, including the Patreon fiction for June, which I am busy with in-between. But for this weekend these two WIPs will definitely be at the top of my to-do list.

INK(y) Things

If you can understand Afrikaans, you can head over to INK and read some of my new fiction there. They include original Afrikaans pieces as well as a few translated stories.

Paragraph Planet!

My story “When I Came There, She Was Gone” was published on Paragraph Planet on 7 June. Click here if you’d like to read this microfiction story.

WIP – Non-fiction

The article for SASMARS is coming along nicely and will also be my main project for Camp NaNoWriMo in July. The conference is end of August, so I need to be done with the article end of July to keep my nerves in check! I can then use the first part of August to create the presentation.
