NaNoWriMo Update – Reaching 50K

After hitting the 50 000 word count on Saturday, I wanted to hit 5 000 on Sunday for the halfway mark as it was 15 November and ended up doing 8 400 words. Okay, and because we were in competition with Cape Town (and Johannesburg won!). Also, the story is not done yet, but it is starting to look like it will be more than one book. So I am trying to keep it to two and then the second story also two (basically because I do not want to have to stretch it to a trilogy just because it does not fit into one book).

The word sprints have really helped a lot to not just up the word count, but also to keep the story flowing as I am at the part of the story that I did not plan out too much. And to keep me from going back and starting to edit everything as I go along instead of finishing the story first.

I have been keeping up with Flash Friday like I wanted to, although I have not been able to do Warmup Wednesday and Cracked Flash on Saturdays. Because I have been pushing so hard these past few weeks and have gone to all the write-ins close to me, I decided to take this weekend off just to relax a bit and catch up on all the other stuff in my life. Like my blog posts for December (*cough cough*). I am also busy making Christmas gifts for some of my family and friends and I am going to be busy with that during most of December – so I’ll definitely be keeping my hands busy.

I am also still busy working on my Pinterest board for NaNoWriMo. Because sometimes you just need to look at some pictures for inspiration. And, you know, crochet patterns. I have also decided that I really want to learn how to make bobbin lace. I have no idea when, though, but one of my characters in my NaNoWriMo novel is a lace maker Ruon. So I have been watching quite a few how-to videos to just get the gist of how it is done. Have a look at my Pinterest board for NaNoWriMo to see some examples of the lace.
