NaNoWriMo and Prep Resources (Part 3) – Wikipedia Book Creator

Welcome to the third instalment of the NaNoWriMo prep blogposts. The previous posts can be read by clicking the links below:

This week I’ll be looking at the Wikipedia Book Creator. This very handy tool lets you compile your own collection of articles from Wikipedia and export them as a singel PDF or EPUB book. This video shows you just how easy it is to make a book of your own:

I’ve been using the book creator not only for my NaNoWriMo project, but also for other writing projects and have been focusing a lot on different mythologies and folklore from around the world. Adding different categories to the book is especially helpful in this case. I find that these pages gives me a good basis from which to work to find other resources about those articles and subjects that really catch my attention.

Of course, once you’re done creating your book, you can simply add the PDF to your Scrivener project folder and voilà ! All your research in one place.
(If you don’t have the Scrivener software, but would like to check it out, you can get a free 30-day trial over at their website Literature and Latte. The software is available for Windows and Mac.)
